On
September 25th (9 am – 3 pm), Desert CrossFit will host the 5th
annual Fight Gone Bad fundraiser, benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, LIVESTRONG and the CrossFit Foundation.
Last
year, over 5,200 people participated at CrossFit affiliates across the country,
raising more than $1.1 million for the charities. This year we seek to break the $2 million mark.
Fight Gone Bad 5 is our way of showing the world what can be done by a small group of committed, determined band of brothers and sisters.
Fight Gone Bad 5 is a way for you to visibly show support for the warriors who serve and support us. It is a way for you to let the 28,000,000 people diagnosed with cancer know that you're fighting for each and every one of them.
It doesn't matter is you sign up to compete/raise funds just compete, or come out to show your support. Your efforts show those soldiers and survivors that they matter.
You can register to raise funds for the event by going to www.fgb5.org and choosing Desert CrossFit as your affiliate team.
In Fight
Gone Bad, participants move through five stations for one minute each. Upon completion of the “round” of exercises,
they get a minute rest and go for two more rounds. Scoring is based on the number of repetitions the athletes
can compete in each minute (rowing = one point per calorie burned). The workout was given its name by World
Ultimate Fighting Champion BJ Penn, who remarked after finishing, “That was
just like a fight gone bad.” The
stations include:
- Wall ball: 20 lb ball, 10 foot high target
- Sumo deadlift high pull: 75 lbs
- Box jump: 20 inch box
- Push press: 75 lbs
- Row: calories
The four
divisions are:
Class A: Standard Men = 75 lb push press and sumo deadlift high pull,
20 lb wall ball and 20 inch box jump
Class B: Modified Men/Standard Women - 55 lb push press and sumo deadlift high pull, 14 lb wall ball and 20 inch box jump
Class C: Intermediate = 35 lb push press and sumo deadlift high pull, 8 lb wall ball and 20 inch box jump (step ups are okay)
Class D: Beginner/Kids = 15 lb push press and sumo deadlift high pull, 4 lb wall wall (can be lowered to 8 foot target) and 10 inch box jumps.
